GET REAL PEOPLE: The Electoral College will NEVER be Eliminated in our Lifetimes!

The founders went with the ELECTORAL COLLEGE for Presidential elections and it was brilliant. Not only should we not overturn the Electoral College, but it will never be rescinded by an amendment to the constitution. If you didn't know that, you don't understand the electoral college and the constitutional amendment process.

From the article:

"Think of the Electoral College like the World Series. One person-one vote equates to the World Series Champions being determined by total number of runs scored. If the Dodgers win the first game 10-0, and the Yankees win the next four games 1-0, the Dodgers win the series. Even though the Yankees bested the Dodgers in four games, it doesn’t matter because the Dodgers scored 10 runs to their 4. One anomalous game decides the whole series. Without the Electoral College, a few heavily populated states decide the whole election."
Each state is like its own baseball game in a 50 game series. The "team" that wins the game in each state legislature to ratify (i.e. amend) the constitution counts as a YES VOTE for removing the Electoral College. To win the series (i.e. amend the constitution), you need to win 38 YES VOTES (i.e. 38 out of 50 baseball games).

SUMMARY: How to Amend the Constitution
- Amendment is proposed by a 2/3 majority vote of BOTH houses of congress -OR- a Constitutional Convention called by 2/3 of all State Legislatures (the latter has never happened - all 27 amendents have come from Congress)
CONGRESS AS CURRENTLY CONSTITUTED WILL NEVER ELIMINATE THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE, AS IT WILL NEVER GET 2/3 MAJORITY VOTE IN BOTH HOUSES
- The president has no role in the Amendent process
- The amendment is given to the States for their consideration by notifying the Governor of each state
- The Governors formally submit the amendment to their State legislatures or the state calls for a convention, and votes on whether to approve (i.e. ratify) the amendment
- The proposed amendment becomes part of the Constitution if it is ever ratified by three-fourths of the States (38 of 50 States) after government certification (the states have an open time period to ratify the amendment, and can even change their minds after they have voted to ratify!)
EVEN IF BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS VOTED TO ELIMINATE THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE, 38 OF 50 STATES WILL NEVER VOTE TO AMEND. ELIMINATING THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE WOULD GIVE FAR LESS INFLUENCE TO THE SMALLER STATES, AND WE HAVE FAR MORE THAN 12 SMALL STATES WHO WOULD VOTE AGAINST AMENDMENT!

THIS IS HOW IT WAS MEANT TO BE: AT THE CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION, THE SMALL STATES WOULD NEVER HAVE AGREED TO THE NEW CONSTITUTION IF THEY HAD NO VOICE IN IT, DUE TO THEIR SMALL POPULATION.

Currently, there are 538 electors; based on 435 representatives, 100 senators, and three electors allocated to Washington, D.C. On average, each state plus DC has 10.5 electors.

The six states with the most electors are California (55), Texas (38), New York (29), Florida (29), Illinois (20), and Pennsylvania (20). The seven least populous states—Alaska, Delaware, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming—have three electors each. This is because each of these states has one representative and two senators.

The number of voters per electoral college vote varies by state.

The average electoral vote represents 436,000 people, but that number rises and falls per state depending on that state’s population over 18 years of age. The states with the fewest people per electoral vote, and therefore the highest “vote power,” are Wyoming, Vermont, and North Dakota.

In Wyoming, there are 143,000 people for each of its three electoral votes. The states with the weakest votes are New York, Florida, and California. These states each have around 500,000 people for each electoral vote. In other words, one Wyoming voter has roughly the same vote power as four New York voters.

Which states voted to raftify the original constitution?

https://www.usconstitution.net/ratifications.html
Each of the original thirteen states in the United States was invited to ratify the Constitution created in Philadelphia in 1787. The Constitution specified that nine ratifications would be sufficient to consider the Constitution accepted. Some states ratified quickly, others had to hold several conventions to accept the Constitution — though all eventually did. This page lists the votes of each state's conventions.
