WORLD: Watch This Video!

Some of my favorite videos. Many involve me or people that I know. Have fun viewing them.

19***** It's no secret that E. Clampus Waagus has a weakness for the late great Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire". Mark M. sent me a link to this you tube music video of a cover (by Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix) of Ring of Fire. Okay, I liked it. Not as much as the original from the Man in Black, but pretty entertaining, so listen to it by clicking here.
18***** The secret of how the "Moving Rocks" at Death Valley's Racetrack actually move has finally been revealed in this fascinating video, which you can watch by clicking here. Previously, many researchers thought they had found the answer, but this video proves them dead wrong. Many theories. Many projects. These guys finally figured it out. BUT they still don't know how the larger moving rocks actually move. Guess there's always some mystery left to figure out! This same group also has a web page at http://www.racetrackplaya.org/

17***** This video was shared on my favorite meetup group at meetup.com "The Common Good" by Marv. Watch this inspirational video by clicking here. It is the inspirational look into the life of a farmer named Chris, who was born with no arms (only short stubs) and no legs (one missing entirely, and one only a short stub). This video reminds me of a quote from the 1977 book written by Richard Bach (Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah), who writes: "If you argue for your limitations, they are yours". Thanks to Nancy for introducing me to this amazing book by Bach (if you haven't read it, you should!). In this video, Chris does not see his limitations, but only his abilities - something that I am striving to see in myself.
Above: yes, this is really Chris, and he is really driving a tractor.

16***** Shared on Facebook by Chris Cameron. Found this and It's awesome: a young man with Down's Syndrome opened "Tim's Restaurant" serving, Breakfast, Lunch and Hugs! Please watch for inspiration by clicking here. I also found this video of Tim (of Tim's Place) doing his "Happy Dance", which brought me tears of joy - you can watch that dance by clicking here. My son James is involved with Adventure Club SLO, run by Johne Gange, which involves many adults of all ages - many of them remind of the Tim of Tim's Restaurant fame.

15***** You can make a fun little match or toothpick shooting gun out of a close-pin, glue and utility knife. See how you can get in trouble quickly by following the instructions in this amazing video by clicking here.

14***** Watch this amazing video of a diver filming the prehistoric fossil fish, the Coelacanth in in its native environment by clicking here. Amazing! Sadly, this diver died on a deep dive recently in June, 2014. You can read about this amazing diver's life by clicking here.
13*****Our current Sizzle Reel developed by Pie Town Productions is now available for public viewing. See the Cheap Jeep: Desert Hunters by clicking on this link: Cheap Jeep Sizzle Reel by Pie Town Productions.
12*****Our backpacking meet-up group (see meetup.org)  is planning a backpacking trip to Havasupai Falls. It has been on my bucket list for a LONG time, and I finally get to go! My backpacking buddy, Mark Mack, found this video from a Santa Monica Backpacking Group; the videos of the falls are absolutely amazing! You might want to skip to the part that shows the waterfalls, and you can watch the You-Tube video by clicking here.
Above: Our local San Luis Obispo Backpacking Meetup group at Havasu Falls. We were there for 5 days in May 2014. Located on the Havasupai Indian Reservation at the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Please consider joining this group (you don't have to live in SLO) by going to Meetup.org and searching for us!
11*****We took our boat out from an undisclosed location somewhere along the Central Coast of California to perform our (safe) version of Deadliest Catch - Central California Edition. Just figgered out how to put 2 videos I shot in the slide show, so here is Deadliest Catch - Central Coast Edition, including 2 videos. We hope you enjoy it.

10*****Sent to me by brother Mark. Yes, its a music video - of the Ukulele Orchestra (!) of Great Britain playing what I believe to be the best Western Movie Theme Song of All Time - you know it when you hear it, from Clint's Spaghetti Western Classic, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. I have a poster of the movie up in the stairway of my home in SLO - that's how much I love the movie.  Wikipedia has a page on this western instrumental song, describing its history.
Brief info from the Wiki page: "the instrumental piece was composed by Ennio Morricone, with Bruno Nicolai conducting the orchestra. A cover version by Hugo Montenegro in 1968 was a pop hit in both the U.S. and the U.K.[1] It has since been one of the most iconic scores in film history." There are many posters from the movie - below is the one that is on the wall in my house. Left to Right: Eli Wallach (Tuco, The Ugly), Clint (Blondie, The man with no man, The Good), Lee van Cleef (Angel Eyes, The Bad). Okay, this is the original version of the theme song to TG,TB&TU.

9*****Jocko Robinson from Dive N' Surf sells a vintage Kirby Diving Helmet to Mike on American Pickers. Ok, not an amazing video, but I worked with Jocko at Dive N' Surf and as they say, when they made Jocko, the broke the mold afterwards! Enjoy the video - it raises money for Jocko's son Travis, who was paralyzed in a pool accident when Travis was just 17 years old. Recent photo of Travis below (Left to Right: Ricky O., me, Travis in foreground, Jocko).

8*****Amazing video of how Cephalods (Squid, Octopus, Cuttlefish) camouflage themselves. How do they do it?!?! Unbelievable!

7*****Scuba Fever video of Dive N' Surf's 37th Annual Lobster Mobster Contest (and Scuba Sale!), memorializing Bill and Bob Meistrell.

6*****Okay, this is my son Andrew driving on a race course. Family bias, of course, but here it is!

5*****HD Video of the canyoneering hike at the Subway in Zion National Park. This is an amazing hike that I have been dying to do for years now - who wants to go?

4*****Octopus Houdini - this video clip was sent to me by my boat partner, Mark. Octopi are incredible, and this one slips through a scupper in an aluminum boat. Amazing ability for a HUGE octopi to squeeze through a tiny slit and gain its freedom at sea!

3*****This video sent to me by several folks, including Brian W. and Bill W. Used car salesman gets a test drive that he was NOT expecting! Jeff Gordon Camara Test Drive video.

2*****This video comes from our friend R1. An amazing cherry wood book shelf that is really:
A) made from a former spaceship
B) a gas-powered survival kayak
C) a complete arsenal storage unit
D) an emergency flood raft
Click here to find out! (Thanks, R1!).

1*****This video link was sent to me by Steve S. of Ridgecrest, who was on a 4 month tour of the Philippines and elsewhere. Steve is the most amazing retirement traveler I have ever encountered, able to pull off trips of amazing adventure while on the most frugal of budgets. Kudos to you Steve (and your travelling companions) for getting out and seeing the world, and making every day count. This link is to a You Tube video of an amazing highway along a lonely and beautiful Norwegian coastline on a very stormy day. Watch it and enjoy the salt water washdown that all the cars are getting along the way - imagine your are driving here: Norwegian Highway Washdown.

Below is the edited text from Steve's email me to introducing this video:
"Think you will enjoy this video of  a very impressive highway in northern Norway. Believe it extends a little further north than the Prudoe Bay highway to the Artic Ocean in Alaska. On a cruise along the Norwegian coast in 2008, think JJ and I saw part of this highway at Vardo on our cruise ship (the M. S. Nordkapp) where it came out of an undersea tunnel (!!!).  Recall that it extended further north from there and I remember thinking it would be great to go back and drive its entire length. Anyone interested?Would be interesting to take the cruise one way and drive the highway the order direction - STEVE
A Road in Norway: The road is built on several small islands and reefs, and is crossed by eight bridges, several roads and overpasses. This road has a view of the open sea, which is rare on the roads along the Norwegian coast. You can see fjords and mountains near the road. The spectacular road quickly became a tourist attraction, but precautions should be displayed because both tourists and locals don't always pay attention to the road!"
