WORLD: Jews Under Attack at UCDavis

*****2/20/2015 Update: Sent to me by Kim - thanks. UC Davis student government divestment from Israel vote was overturned on 2/19/2015, which you can read about by clicking here. That's progress, but it doesn't do anything to address the UC Davis student movement that proclaims that "Sharia law has taken over UC Davis". If you want to lodge a complaint against what is happening at UC Davis in the conflict between Israel Supporters and Sharia Law supporters, you can call Emily Prieto, Chief of Staff to the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, at (530) 752-0946.

*****2/10/2015 Update: Santa Cruz, CA, February 10, 2015- After the Jewish community suffered two hate crimes at UC Davis in recent days, 23 organizations with hundreds of thousands of members and supporters demanded UC Davis Chancellor Katehi conduct a formal investigation into registered student group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and one of its members, Azka Fayyaz, also a UC Davis student senator. I am anxiously awaiting action from UC Davis, but am not optimistic. You can read more about this by clicking here.

*****2/5/2015: The bottom line is that we are all on the planet together. Those who want to work towards living in harmony with those who are different from them deserve to live in peace. Those who seek to create conflict and inflict intentional violence against innocents deserve to be stopped by any means. Period. Peace through Superior Firepower. America defeats its enemies and then rebuilds them (Japan, Germany after WWII, etc.) - what other country does that?

*****2/5/2015: Yesterday, 2/4/2015, President Obama made remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast. You can read about his remarks by clicking here. Obama somehow tries to equate what ISIS is doing in Syria (beheadings, burning the Jordanian pilot alive) to the Spanish Inquisition of some 500+ years or more ago.
Here's the quote: "Unless we get on our high horse and think that this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ," Obama said. "In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ."
Come on, Prez. America did not even exist during the Spanish Inquisition...so how can you blame the United States for it, or somehow equate something that happened in the distant past to the murders that are occurring now...how?
*****2/4/2015 - Jewish UCDavis Students Under Assault: My oldest son attended UCDavis and graduated in 2012. While a fine school, they will no longer receive my financial support in the way of donations to various university programs - assuming this story proves to be true (which all indicators are that it is true) - unless they launch significant efforts to reverse this anti-semitism. Here's what happened:

Above: AEPi Fraternity at UCDavis tagged with Nazi symbol of Death to Jews.

First incident: On 1/29/2015, Hamas students at UCDavis heckled Jewish students and shouted “Allahhu Akbar” at them during a vote last week on a 8-2 resolution endorsing a boycott of the Jewish state, which you can read about by clicking here. As the only free and democratic country in the middle east, I wonder how many surrounding Middle Eastern countries have received similar boycotts?
Second incident: Following the vote, which was championed by the pro-Hamas group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), unknown vandals spray-painted swastikas on a fraternity house belonging to the Jewish AEPi organization.

This is all part of a trend of growing anti-semitism in both Europe and the US, and it has to stop. Period. It never ceases to amaze me how college students and Jews are so critical of Israel, and in comparison, support all the crazy Middle Eastern dictators and their Sharia justice system and discrimination against all women. I'll never figure it out. Maybe I'm too close to the problem, as I am married to a Jewish woman.

My wife did not believe that so many American Jews are anti-Israeli - a phenomenon that I have been aware of for decades. Witness this February 3, 2015 article written by Jewish students in the UC Davis "Aggie" newspaper who are espousing anti-Israel sentiments in the form of support for divestment from Israel. You can read the article in the Aggie college newspaper by clicking here

Here's another quote: "Hamas and Sharia Law have taken over UC Davis" -- UC Davis Student Senate Leader Azka Fayyaz in a Facebook post following UC Davis' ASUCD Senate passage of a divestment resolution yesterday (which she voted YES for). Really, kids. UC Davis students are in for supporting Sharia law, but not Israel. Wow. Puzzling.

One more quote: “Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at UC Davis has a history of harassing, intimidating and physically assaulting Jewish and pro-Israel students, as well as trying to shut down pro-Israel events and strip Jewish and pro-Israel students of their Constitutionally-protected freedom of expression”. Sad, indeed.

On a final note: The Jewish population of America voted in huge numbers for Obama, who has shown the least support to Israel of any US President in recent memory, or maybe since the inception of Israel. In fact, it would appear that our President is barely able to suppress his deep disdain for Israel. We deserve the people that we elect into office. US Jews wanted Obama, and Obama is who they got. Twice. Now they must live with him, for better or worse. Let's see what happens next at UCDavis, if anything.

*****2014 Israel-Gaza Conflict - Update 7/31/2014: You can read about this conflict on wikipedia by clicking here. Several UN shelters in Gaza have been hit by "bombs". Regardless of whether Israel or Hamas launched these devices (it's not always clear), you have to ask yourself: why aren't the Gaza people hiding in underground concrete bomb shelters instead of flimsy buildings? Answer: Gaza has used their voluminous concrete and building material to construct structures underground. Except those structures are not shelters (to protect their people) but tunnels (to be used to attack Israel and smuggle offensive armaments into Gaza). Who loves their children? What would you build?

Addendum: the UN has found Hamas missiles stored in numerous "shelters". If you are waiting for the UN to condemn Hamas for this storage of military equipment amongst their women and children, don't hold your breath. When I say condemn, I mean repeat over and over with the same vigor in which they (rightly) complain about the "bombs" landing in the UN shelters housing Palestinians.

*****2014 Israel-Gaza Conflict - Original Post 7/29/2014:
Palestinians vs. Israel has been going on for a long time. Many say it's a long and complicated conflict with no peace in sight - I agree. This latest conflict is likely to change nothing because:
1) Israel will continue to defend itself from rocket and tunnel attacks and it's right to exist.
2) Hamas will continue to maintain the support of its people (the voting public) in Gaza, and will continue to have as a goal the destruction of Israel and the death of all jews in the world (note that this pledge would also include the murder of my wife and I'm very fond of her!).

Certain things should be understood about this conflict. Let's start with the current war of July, 2014.

• The current Palestinians in Gaza elect and support the current Hamas government and its actions in this conflict. Sounds like they would elect them again and again and again. As in America, where we get the government we vote for and thus deserve, so do those from Gaza.

• Hamas wants the war to continue, no matter how great the death and destruction to them. Why? It defies logic. Might have something to do with the conept that Hamas hates the Jews more than they love their own children.

• Israel wants the war to continue in order to end Hamas' ability to continue to launch military attacks into Israel.

• The Israel military attempts to minimize civilian casualties to the greatest extent possible by warning civilians ahead of time. Note that they do this at a great disadvantage in war, as it gives time for Hamas to escape from the upcoming attack. Who else does this? Nobody that I know of.

• How can civilian death counts be kept in Gaza? Hamas does not wear uniforms, and children are often conscripted at a young age into the military, and are often suicide bombers. There is no way to distinguish from a Hamas soldier (adult or child) and a Gaza civilian. That is Hamas' fault - they should buy and wear uniforms. Oh right. They are not a government with an army - they are terrorists, and the last thing a terrorist would do is don a uniform or show their face. You have to ask yourself why?

• Israel should stop fighting because of the large number of Gaza children killed. Children are innocent, and they can't be responsible for voting in Hamas and its terrorist goals, can they? No, but their parents can! Its true that the children did not elect the terrorist politicians of Hamas into office, but their parents did. When parents vote, they vote not just for their best interest, but surely for the interests of the kids? Knowing that Hamas is happy to use your children as human shields, wouldn't you vote for someone else? Think about it.

• Why do democrats dislike Israel so much - even the Jewish politicians? H*ll, Obama can barely hide his complete, outright disdain for Israel. Shouldn't democrats favor the little guy? What gives? Why wouldn't they support the only free country in the Middle East, if freedom and democracy is such a good thing? This has always puzzled me. But I do have some answer:
(A) Many Jewish politicians are politically and religiously conservative - like the Tea Party on steroids.
(B) Their military is way less politically correct than ours, because they are fighting for their lives; in Iraq and Afghanistan, who knows what we are fighting for anymore, but its no longer anyone's freedom, that's for sure.

• Many Middle Eastern countries secretly favor the Israeli effort to subdue Hamas, each for their own reason, such as Eqypt, Saudi Arabia and even the Palestinians in the West Bank.

• Israel uses its resources to protect its people, including building a bomb shelter network, deploying anti-missile defense, and sounding the alarm when there are incoming missiles from Hamas.

• Hamas uses its voluminous concrete and shovels to build vast miles of underground tunnels to attack the enemy, and to a lesser extent, secretly smuggle in weapons and embargoed trade items. They spend more of their military budget on offensive minded missiles to mindlessly lob into Israel. Final, they encourage Palestinians women and children to huddle around bombs, soldiers and weapons in hopes that they will blow up and their parts become a weapon of world sympathy.
